A Look at the Makita MAC210Q
This is a very popular two gallon air compressor from Makita’s Quiet Series. The Makita MAC210Q is oil-free and is electric powered. We’re going to take a look at how quiet it is and who would benefit from this machine.
Introduction
Makita has three air compressors in their Quiet Series. MAC100Q, MAC210Q, and the MAC320Q. The capacities are one, two, and three gallons, respectively.
We’re taking a closer look at the MAC210Q in this review to get a middle-of-the-road perspective on the series.
We’ve been researching other 1 gallon tank air compressors and based on what others are saying, we’ve come up with our own rating.
Our Rating for the Makita MAC210Q: 4.0/5
All in all, the product itself is fantastic. It’s very quiet, nearly living up to its claims, it’s reliable and fast to fill.

Highlights of the Makita MAC210Q
Portability
The MAC210Q weighs under 45 pounds. This is easy enough to get in and out of a pickup truck and move through a jobsite. While the kids may have trouble handling it to fill their bicycle tires, that isn’t the best use of this air compressor anyway.
Quick Filling
This two gallon air compressor filled up in under one minute. Almost all measurements were clocked at 51 seconds.
Quiet
Is it as quiet as advertised? Not quite. In all of our research, we have never seen a measurement that was as low as 60 decibels, but not one ever reached 70 decibels. By comparison, the average household vacuum runs at around 70 decibels. No one is going to go nuts over the volume of the MAC210Q, especially since it fills up so quickly.
You can easily use this for indoor finish work without bothering the neighbors.

What We Like About the MAC210Q
Low Noise: This is a very quiet machine. You don’t feel like you’ll regret forgetting your hearing protection at home.
Leak-free: We had no problems with air leaking from a full tank, even after four days.
Solid Construction: The roll cage protects the air compressor without getting in the way of access.
Drawbacks of the Makita MAC210Q
It isn’t all roses and chocolates with this Makita. Let’s look at what issues we found.
The power cord is only 6 feet long. You will undoubtedly need an extension cord to run this machine.
We would like a manual that’s actually helpful. If no one can make heads or tails of the instructions, it’s a waste of paper and ink.
Maybe we’re nit-picking here, but Makita makes a couple of claims that are slightly inaccurate.
- True weight is 44.75 pounds and not the 44 pounds as claimed.
- True decibel readings are closer to 65 dB and not hitting the 60 dB.
Good for light work but it’s too small for framing work and a little too big for airbrush work (plus, you would need a regulator).

Who Would Benefit From The Makita MAC210Q
This is a great air compressor for small contract work. It was designed to drive finish nails. If you need to drive some 16 gauge nails, that’s fine, but don’t expect it to carry a day’s worth of framing.
We wouldn’t recommend it for household chores like car and bicycle tires. That’s just overkill for this machine. We also wouldn’t recommend this for airbrushing.
Our Verdict
The Makita MAC210Q is a fantastic choice for small indoor contract jobs. It’s quiet enough that you can use it in apartments without ruining the neighbor’s day. It’s light enough that you won’t need a second person to get it in and out of your truck.
