First, let’s take a look at our ratings. We can then dive deeper into how we came to these conclusions.

Overall Rating: 4/5

If you’re not looking to break the bank but really need a reliable high pressure tire inflator, this is a very good choice. It’s easy to use and quick to get up and running. You shouldn’t have any problems working this air compressor.

When we were going through reviews by other people, These were pointed out as standout features.

Quick and Easy

The Ryobi Portable Power Inflator works straight out-of-the-box. You should have no problems getting this going if you need it in a pinch such as during an emergency roadside event.

This Ryobi air compressor includes a digital gauge, allowing you to accurately measure your tire pressure.

Lightweight

This Ryobi air compressor is lightweight enough so that anyone who knows how to inflate a tire should be able to handle it. Standard car tires can be inflated easily. However, we’d hesitate to recommend this inflator to anyone that owns a larger vehicle or truck. It’s just underpowered for those larger tasks. Not only would it take longer to inflate those tires, you risk the motor burning out.

Portability

Portability and being lightweight don’t always go hand-in-hand. The Ryobi portable power inflator actually scores favorably on both of these points. A lot of people really love the portability of this air compressor. You really can’t go wrong here if these are the key points you’re looking for.

Accuracy

The accuracy of this cordless tire inflator is surprisingly on point. Ryobi claims it to be accurate to one-half pound. This is a great improvement from the original P737, which indicated pressure with an analog gauge. You should have no problems inflating your tires to your ideal pressure level.

Ideal Usage

This air compressor is ideal for anyone looking for a reliable, cordless way to inflate their standard tires in a hurry. It has a lot of nice features and is also easy on the wallet. We’re looking at an improved version of the Ryobi portable power inflator. As you read on, you’ll discover that it is now compatible with more non-Ryobi battery systems.

It can inflate up to 150 PSI so there’s no reason that it shouldn’t be able to inflate just about any little object around your home. You should be able to use this for lawn mower tires, bicycle tires, and your standard car tires. You should also be able to inflate any pool items found in your shed.

It’s the reason it keeps making the Best Sellers’ list.

We’ve been talking about the features in general. Now, let’s take a look at each feature more closely so you know what you’re getting for your dollars.

Features of the Ryobi Portable Power Inflator for Tires

  • PSI: 0 to 150
  • Duty Cycle: 5 minutes on/5 minutes off
  • Power Source: Battery Powered
  • Voltage: 18 Volts
  • Weight: ‎ 2.5 pounds
  • Hose: 20 inches
  • Pressure Gauge: Digital 2 inch screen
  • Adapters: Presta, needle, tapered

Battery Power: ONE+ Compatibility. Ryobi finally got a clue and changed this nice air compressor to be compatible with their ONE+ battery system. If you use Ryobi tools, you already have the battery and charger you need for this air compressor.

Ergonomics: Again, At 2.5 lb, this is as lightweight as an air compressor gets. It feels good in your hand and no one in your home should have a problem getting any of your household tasks done.

Hose: The twenty inch length is a little shorter than some air compressors of this caliber but it should be plenty long enough for most tasks since it’s cordless.

ryobi digital display

Pressure Gauge: This is the most noticeable improvement in the 737D. Even as lightweight as it is, the digital display is easy to read, giving you the confidence you need to fill up objects accurately.

Adapters: The basics of a Presta adapter for bicycles, a needle adapter for sports balls and a tapered adapter for pool toys are included. Ryobi doesn’t anticipate that you’ll be using the 737D for anything but the basics so the adapters fit most of the usual tasks. There’s a nice storage section at the bottom of the machine where all of the adapters fit in nicely.

Our Verdict

The ergonomic design and lightweight all of the Ryobi P737D air compressor make this a great choice for everyday tasks. Make sure the battery is charged up and you can bring it along with you for car emergencies. It gives you everything you need and the fact that the batteries are compatible with other Ryobi products is a real game changer.

The downside here is that it won’t handle larger objects such as SUV tires, truck tires and stand up paddle boards.

Things to Note

The battery and the charger are not included with this air compressor. Also note that Ryobi doesn’t have its own store on Amazon. In that case, you have to be careful as to the reputation of the seller.

Look for one that has good ratings and has several sales under its belt. If there’s a warranty offer pop-up when you make your purchase, you should seriously consider picking it up. The three dollars or so spent could be the difference between owning a nice tool and a piece of junk.
